Chief Master Sgt. Lee Hoover

Chief Master Sergeant Lee E. Hoover Jr. is the Superintendent of Air Force Basic Military Training (BMT) at the 737th Training Group, Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas. He is responsible for the readiness, welfare, morale, leadership and training of more than 800 permanent party personnel, and a daily student load of more than 6,500 Air Force recruits. The training group executes all aspects of the Air Force’s enlisted recruit training program, and ensures the orderly transition from civilian to military life for 39,000 Active Duty, Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve non-prior service accessions annually.

Chief Hoover grew up in Snohomish, Washington and enlisted in the Air Force in January 2001 as a broadcast journalist. He served in multiple capacities as a broadcast journalist, including assignments as a News Director and an AFN Detachment Superintendent. He has completed overseas tours in Turkey and Japan, and has served on the Headquarters Air Force Staff in the Pentagon, Virginia. He has also deployed in support of OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM.

Prior to assuming his current position he served as the Squadron Superintendent of the 320th Training Squadron, Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas.
