LIEUTENANT COLONEL TRACY A. NESBITT

Lieutenant Colonel Tracy Alan Nesbitt is the Vice Commander, 637th Training Group, and the Deputy Commandant, Defense Language Institute English Language Center (DLIELC) at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas. He directs the Department of Defense English language training program that provides on-campus English language training to military and civilian leaders from over 110 countries annually. He also commands the associated U.S. Army Element at DLIELC.

In 1992, he received his Army commission through ROTC. After completing Military Intelligence Officer Basic Course and Airborne School, he was assigned to the 3rd Battalion/505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division as Assistant S2. His next assignment was Intelligence and Surveillance Platoon Leader with Bravo Company/313th Military Intelligence Battalion as well as Company Executive Officer before serving as S2 in the 2nd Battalion/325th Airborne Infantry Regiment all assignments were at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina.

In 1997, he served in Korea on Combat Support Coordination Team #3 as Tactical Intelligence Officer for the VII ROK Corps Liaison Team. He returned to Ft. Bragg with the 46th Corps Support Group/1st COSCOM as Group S2. He deployed to Tuzla, Bosnia with 10th Mountain Division as Assistant G2 Plans Officer from November 1999 to March 2000 at MND-N Headquarters. He served as Assistant S3 (Plans and Ops) for the 319th Military Intelligence Battalion, 525th MI Bde from April-November 2000. He commanded Alpha Company, 319th MI Bn from November 2000 to April 2002.

 
LTC Nesbitt returned to Korea at Camp Humphreys with the 3rd MI Bn (Aerial Exploitation) as Assistant S3 (Training, Readiness, and Ops) from May 2002 to May 2003. Then from June 2003 to June 2005, he served as Training Development and Support XO for the 306th MI Bn, 111th MI Bde (TRADOC) at Ft. Huachuca, Arizona. After Command and General Staff College, he again returned to Ft. Bragg with the 1st Brigade Combat Team, 82d Airborne Division, as Brigade S2 from July 2006-Jan 2007 and also with 18th Airborne Corps G2/Analysis and Control Element from Feb 2007 to Feb 2009. He deployed to Baghdad, Iraq for 15 months as Deputy CACE Chief, Multi-National Corps-Iraq. After his deployment, he attended the Joint Forces Staff College, before reporting to CENTCOM, CCJ2-Operations Knowledge Management Branch MacDill AFB, Florida from June 2009 to August 2012, with a deployment to Kabul, Afghanistan to the International Security Assistance Forces HQs January-March 2011. He served forward with ARCENT in Kuwait as Deputy G2 and as the CENTCOM Forward-Jordan J2 from August 2012 to August 2013. He returned to CENTCOM in August 2013 and served as CCJ2-JICCENT Iraq Branch Chief.
