Manko pleads guilty, sentenced

JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-LACKLAND, Texas -- Staff Sgt. Jason Manko, a former Air Force military training instructor, was sentenced this afternoon during a special court-martial held here.

Manko was sentenced to 45 days confinement, reduction to the grade of E-3 (airman 1st class), forfeiture of $500 pay per month for three months and hard labor without confinement for 30 days to be served concurrently with a 30-day restriction to Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland.

Manko pleaded guilty Sept. 24 to a charge in violation of the Uniform Code of Military Justice that included one specification of wrongfully seeking to develop an unprofessional personal, intimate, or sexual relationship with a trainee, and one specification of wrongfully engaging in sexual activities with that trainee.

This is the fifth completed court-martial in a series of allegations against military training instructors on Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland.
