37th Training Wing Mission and Vision

MISSION
Build and develop disciplined and dynamic Airmen, Guardians, Partners and Allies trusted to secure tomorrow.

VISION

Forging the future force to excel in a complex operational environment.

The 37th Training Wing, Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland Air Force Base, Texas, is the largest training wing in the U.S. Air Force. It consists of three training groups and one Academy; and graduates more than 80,000 students annually.

  • The 637th Training Group, or Defense Language Institute-English Language Center, is known as the “Gateway to America,” and is the leader in English language training for the DoD and builds security cooperation capability through English language training and cultural immersion.

  • The Inter-American Air Force’s Academy, or IAAFA, promotes Security Cooperation principles through the delivery of professional military education, technical training and aircrew training taught in Spanish.

  • The 37th Training Group takes students to the next level of proficiency, providing Airmen, Guardians, Soldiers, Sailors, Marines and International students the skills needed to perform their duties worldwide. The group trains 100% of Air Force Security Forces personnel and 100% of enlisted aircrew. Additionally, the wing is the executive agent for the Department of Defense Military Working Dog program. This is the world’s largest working dog school and is the sole source for training for all DoD MWD handlers, kennel trainers, and kennel masters. The school trains approximately 275 dogs per year and uses an internal breeding program to produce 10-15% of MWDs

  • The 737th Training Group, Basic Military Training, provides foundational training for those entering the Air Force, Space Force, Air Force Reserve and Air National Guard, generating 93% of the enlisted Corps.
