12/13/2012 - JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO - LACKLAND, Texas -- The JBSA-Lackland Airmen' s Holiday Cookie Caper is a base-wide cookie drive with a lofty goal. The Cookie Caper needs more than 1,500 dozen cookies to provide a taste of home to Airmen who remain in the dorms during the holidays.

Members of the base community can drop store bought or home-made cookies at the Freedom Chapel Parking Lot on Monday, December 17th from 0600-0900.

"Right now we have enough volunteers and supplies," said Julie Camerer, wife of Col. Mark Camerer the 37th Training Wing Commander. "We just need a lot of cookies."

There is no such thing as too many either. If there are extras, those will go to wounded warriors.

The opportunity to give a little taste of home is rewarding according to 37th Training Wing Command Chief Master Sgt. Craig Recker who has seen one other JBSA-Lackland Cookie Caper.

"The feedback from the Airman is overwhelmingly positive as this touch of home means so very much to them at a time when they maybe away from home for their first holiday season," Said Recker. "I'm so proud of all those who give of themselves to make this a reality."
