Lieutenant Colonel Marvin S. Mark currently serves as the Vice Commander, 637th Training Group, and the Deputy Commandant of the Defense Language Institute English Language Center (DLIELC) at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas. He directs the Department of Defense English language training program which provides on-campus English language training to military and civilian leaders from over 110 countries annually and commands the U.S. Army Element (USAE).
LTC Mark received his commission as a Signal Officer after graduating from the University of South Carolina in 2004. His most recent assignment was Executive Officer of the 54th Signal Battalion, Camp Arifjan, Kuwait. His other staff assignments include G6 Plans Officer, Space & Missile Defense Command, Peterson AFB, Colorado; Regimental S6, 3d Calvary Regiment, Fort Hood, Texas; Network Operations Chief, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas; and Executive Officer to the Deputy Director of Army Capabilities Integration Center (ARCIC), Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia. LTC Mark has had multiple deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan.
He holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of South Carolina in Computer Engineering, a Master of Science in Telecommunications Management, a Master of Business Administration from the University of Maryland Global Campus, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Information Technology with a specialization in Information Assurance and Security from Capella University.
LTC Mark’s military awards include the Bronze Star Medal (1OLC), Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (5 OLC), Army Commendation Medal, Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Space Badge, Air Assault Badge, Parachutist Badge, and Combat Action Badge.
