Colonel Bryan B. Tuinman

Col. Bryan B. Tuinman is the Commandant, Inter-American Air Forces Academy (IAAFA), Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas. In this position, he is responsible for promoting security cooperation by providing military education and training, in Spanish, for more than 900 students annually to eligible military forces and governmental partners from 24 Latin American and Caribbean countries. The 32 courses offered span a range of technical training, professional military education, and aircrew topics.

Col. Tuinman commissioned from the U.S. Air Force’s Officer Training School at Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama, in September 2002. He completed initial pilot training in January 2005 and has served over the last 22 years in various roles as an instructor pilot, evaluator pilot and combat aviation advisor. Prior to his current assignment, Col. Tuinman was the Director, Resourcing (SOJ8), Special Operations Command - Pacific (SOCPAC), Camp Smith, Hawaii.

Col. Tuinman is a command pilot with more than 2,700 flying hours, including 220 combat hours, and has deployed in support of Operations IRAQI FREEDOM and OBSERVANT COMPASS.
