Grants available for those affected by winter storm

JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-LACKLAND, Texas -- The Air Force Aid Society can help those affected by the record-breaking weather that occurred last week and caused power/water outages, bursting pipes and displacement of families.

AFAS will provide up to a $500 grant to Airmen/Guardians affected by this situation to assist emergency financial needs for such things as short-term hotel stays, food, and other basic living expenses.

Active duty personnel should go to https://afas.org/ to apply for the grant. Scroll down to “Emergency Assistance” and follow the prompts. Use receipts, pictures, etc. for justification. Airmen will receive notification to meet with the Military and Family Readiness Center. Call 210-671-3722 and leave a voicemail with contact information or email 802fss.fsfr@us.af.mil to schedule an appointment to receive payment.

Civilian personnel can go to the Federal Employee Education and Assistance Fund website at https://feea.org/ to apply for the same grant.

For both Airmen and civilians, the grant is up to $500, not automatically $500.
