PRESS RELEASE - JBSA Airman fatally injured in off-base incident Published June 9, 2025 37th Training Wing Public Affairs JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-LACKLAND, Texas -- A member of the 343rd Training Squadron assigned to Joint Base San Antonio was fatally injured in an off-base incident on Saturday, June 7, 2025. The Airman was struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross the 3000 block of Northeast Loop 410 in San Antonio. The driver remained at the scene. The deceased has been identified as Airman Federico Gonzalez, 20, assigned to the 343rd Training Squadron at JBSA-Lackland. "We are deeply saddened by the loss of Airman Gonzalez," said Lt. Col. Robert Chance, commander of the 343rd Training Squadron. "Our thoughts are with his family, friends and fellow service members during this difficult time." JBSA leadership is coordinating with local authorities and providing support to the family and squadron.
