341st Training Squadron honors Boston Bombing victims Published May 23, 2013 By Jose T. Garza III JBSA-Lackland Public Affairs JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- The 341st Training Squadron hosted a 5K Memorial Run/Walk April 26 at Stapleton Park to show support for the victims of the Boston Marathon bombings. Staff Sgt. Gregory Mobley, 341st TRS, helped organize the event because he has friends who live in the Boston area and knows friends that have family livinga there. "I looked at the race and saw what happened," Mobley said. "I wanted to be there to help out but I couldn't. I thought about all the men, women, and children who could not finish the race or see the end of it and wanted to run and finish for them." More than 50 runners participated in the event despite less than ideal weather conditions. Mobley was pleased with the turnout and was glad to see all the support civilian and military personnel showed for the victims. "It was just people who wanted to come out and show their support from 2,000 miles away by picking up the flag and finishing the race for those who couldn't," Mobley said. "On that day, I saw people come together as one to let the victims, families, and city of Boston know that no matter how far, we are family and they are in our thoughts and prayers."
