Retired Capt. Guy Gruters, a former F-100 Super Sabre pilot and prisoner of war, serves as the reviewing official during a U.S. Air Force basic military graduation Nov. 8, 2019, at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas. Gruters was an F-100 pilot for more than 20 years and spent more than five of those years as POW in a Vietnam internment camp. His decorations include more than thirty combat awards, including two Silver Stars, two Distinguished Flying Crosses, two Purple Hearts, a Bronze Star Medal for Valor, the POW Medal, a Presidential Unit Citation and 20 Air Medals.
