Our mission is to design and develop advanced technology based instructional systems for the 37th Training Group, BMT, U.S. Air Force, Homeland Security Forces, and Global Air Expeditionary Forces. These advanced methodologies include Computer-Based Training, Web-based Training, Electronic Performance support systems (EPSS), Technology/Media insertions, Advanced Distributed Learning delivered over a Learning Management System (LMS) and Micro Learning Training Modules. The instructional systems support technical training, student achievement and enable instructors and students to perform their missions at the highest level in a constantly changing technological environment.

The 37TRSS Center for Teaching & Learning Excellence (CTLE) is the primary faculty development space at the 37th Training Group and is dedicated to fostering a culture of innovative, engaging, and transformative teaching practices.

To that end, CTLE offers both new and experienced learning professionals opportunities to advance their careers and grow professionally. We combine a suite of formal courses, self-paced micro-courses, workshops, and consultation services to meet the needs of Learning Professionals across Air Education and Training Command, Mission Partners, and Sister Services.

Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation (ADDIE)
This course provides training for AETC Technical Training staff charged with the responsibility of training program development and maintenance. The scope of training includes a systematic process used to analyze, design, develop, implement, and evaluate training in the most effective and cost-efficient manner, all based around the process of continuous evaluation and improvement.

Enrollment Procedures

Basic Instructor Course (BIC)
The instructional design for this course is group paced. Training includes roles of an instructor, qualities of an instructor, group dynamics, learning theory, counseling theory, instructional methods, multimedia, student measurement, ISD, questioning techniques, communicative process, lesson plan development, and delivering presentations.

Student-Centered Active Learning Experience (SC-AL-E)
This Student-Centered Active Learning Experience course is designed to teach instructors, developers, and staff on the development and implementation of an instructional design that focuses on bringing multiple forms of active-learning and student-centered pedagogies into a traditionally lecture-based course.

Lesson topics include how people learn, characteristics of a facilitator; teaching with emotional intelligence; teaching & learning styles; faculty roles in active learning; active learning strategies; integrating multimedia; learning spaces; designing student-centered active learning courses; writing course control documents; and integrating collaborative learning. Students participate in hands-on active learning activities that they can incorporate directly into their practice. A final capstone project provides students the opportunity to redesign and facilitate a unit of instruction and receive feedback.

The course is designed to expose attendees to the basics of student-centered active learning concepts and methodologies, guidance on developing student-centered active learning lessons, and provides an opportunity for attendees to practice facilitating an active learning lesson with their fellow cohorts.

This course is delivered as an in-resident course and is facilitated in a blended learning environment utilizing an on-line Learning Management System (LMS), face-to-face instruction and various teaching strategies providing a differentiated learning experience.

Technical Writer
This virtual course is designed to provide an in-depth knowledge and skills of technical training course development and maintenance of documentation as applied to technical training instructors, instructor supervisors, curriculum developers, Training Development Element (TDE) chiefs, and Interactive Media Insertion (IMI) developers. Provides the basis for the development of detailed training materials, training objectives, and training evaluation instruments for the course. Includes writing preparation, essential technical writing, and technical writing styles.

Prerequisite: None (Completion of the ADDIE course is highly recommended.)

Training Development
The scope of this course includes training development responsibilities and applicable policies; course planning; course control documents; measurement; instructional materials; validation and service testing; training evaluation; course administration; and development of non-resident training. Students will use TTMS ICIS (Technical Training Management System Interactive Courseware Implementation System) to practice developing course materials.

Prerequisite: Completion of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation course.

Training Management
This course provides training for faculty and staff personnel involved in instruction and training development. The scope of training includes training management responsibilities, technical training, training development, programming, scheduling training, production, and training systems. Particular emphasis is given to the roles and responsibilities of the Training Manager. NOTE: This is an AETC course designed for personnel supporting the AETC Technical Training mission. Non-AETC customer requests are allocated on a space available basis.

Training Supervisor
This course provides training for individuals selected for instructor/intermediate supervisor duty within a training squadron. Training clarifies the faculty member's function as a first- or second-line instructor supervisor. Training includes applicable AF, AETC, and local directives; student administration and recognition; IS position and responsibilities; instructor training, recognition, and evaluation; training evaluation; and inspection program.

CCAF Course Credits: This is a Community College of the Air Force accredited course.

Course Title: Supervision of Instruction

Length of Course: 7 Days/56 Hours

Description: Course control documents and instructional system development, management of student academic programs, and measurement and evaluation of student and instructor performance.

Prerequisite: Personnel assigned to an IS position, who do NOT have prior teaching experience in a formal school setting, must complete the Basic Instructor Course (BIC) or equivalent instructor training course prior to enrollment.
