Women of Courage: Serving on two fronts
Tech. Sgt. Cindey Zeledon stands in front of the 737th TRG at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas, March 21, 2024. Zeledon, a Military Training Instructor, faced a world of uncertainty growing up as a daughter of immigrants illegally living in the United States. She later devoted herself as a stay-at-home mom to five children before pursuing her dream of becoming a military training instructor – a dream that initially seemed out of reach. Zeledon encourages others facing similar challenges to “let their children be their motivation, not their excuse.” (U.S. Air Force photo by Vanessa Adame)

Women of Courage: Serving on two fronts
Capt. Katiana Colón, (left) 837th Training Squadron, is pictured with her aunt, retired Col. Daisy Raldiris, at her commissioning ceremony, June 7, 2014. Colón was inspired to join the military as a child growing up in Puerto Rico after listening to her grandfather’s military experiences and seeing her aunt in uniform. Although she takes great joy from being a mother, Colón does not want to be viewed only as a mom. She offers advice to others in a similar situation: “Don’t let anyone else dictate what you should be doing; fight for what you believe in.” Colón stands to put on the rank of major in the near future.
