U.S. Air Force Security Forces Kennel Masters pose for a group photo in front of the Military Working Dog (MWD) monument Aug. 13, 2019, at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas. The members gathered at Joint JBSA-Lackland this week for the first USAF Military Working Dog Kennel Master's Workshop. This multi-domain initiative will aid in reconstituting MWD efforts by restoring lethality to Security Forces through training and development. As an effort to reconstitute Defenders this training opportunity allows for the professional development of MWD personnel, dissemination of mandated information, cross talk on important matters in the career field, to bring in subject matter experts that affect the MWD Program and encourage professional networking. The conference directly supports and enhances Security Forces mission essential tasks to support the Military Working Dog program by building force proficiency and streamlining productivity similar to the collaborative efforts of our sister services. Military Working Dog
The 341st Training Squadron provides training to military working dogs (MWDs) used in patrol, drug and explosive detection, and specialized mission functions for the Department of Defense (DoD) and other government agencies. Personnel conduct operational training of MWD handlers and supervisors and sustain DoD MWD program through logistical support, veterinary care, and research and development for security efforts worldwide.
