  • Airman Heritage Museum welcomes BMT trainees

    The U.S. Air Force Heritage Museum began welcoming basic military training flights starting June 1, 2020, Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas. The purpose of the visit is to familiarize trainees to the historical roots of the Air Force and what it means to earn the title Airman.
  • Air Force IG directed to independently examine racial disparities in service’s discipline, advancement opportunities

    Department of the Air Force Secretary Barbara Barrett and service chiefs, Gen. David Goldfein and Gen. Jay Raymond, have directed the Department of the Air Force Inspector General to independently review the service’s record on military discipline and developmental opportunities for African American Airmen and Space Professionals.
  • Senate confirms Gen. Charles Q. Brown Jr. to be 22nd Air Force Chief of Staff on unanimous vote

    The U.S. Senate confirmed Gen. Charles Q. Brown, Jr., June 9 to be the 22nd Air Force Chief of Staff, clearing the way for the decorated pilot and experienced commander to become the first African-American in history to lead a branch of the U.S. military as its highest-ranking officer.
  • DLIELC Field Studies Program shares American culture with partner nations

    DLIELC is home to the largest FSP. This program is nested in the 637th International Support Squadron. They give over 200 tours a year to students at the schoolhouse. The FSP focuses on immersing students in American culture and introducing them to American ways of life. They do this through events on campus, day tours, overnight tours, and linking students with a host family via the American Members of International Goodwill to Others (AMIGO) program. It is vital during these times that DLIELC uphold not only the instruction portion of their mission, but also cultural immersion to our partner nations—in many cases, DLIELC is a student’s first experience with the United States of America!

    The Department of the Air Force released the service’s first doctrine annex on Joint All-Domain Operations June 1, outlining how the service expects to maintain the competitive advantage.
  • S.A. Rotary Club virtual immerse in K-9 handler training

    Cadre members of the 341st Training Squadron’s K-9 Handlers course at Joint Base San Antonio--Lackland showcased the training military members undergo to become military working dog handlers during a virtual demonstration for members of the San Antonio Rotary Club of Fair Oaks Ranch Texas, June 3, 2020. “I think the program speaks to us on many levels,” she said.  “As those who appreciate dogs and their unique talents, as citizens who are proud of the special things going on in our San Antonio community, and as patriots who appreciate what our military and their dogs are doing to preserve freedom in the world.”
